MANDRUAH COMMERCIAL AND RECREATIONAL FISHERS SEEK MSC CERTIFICATION IN WORLD-FIRST COLLABORATION

 

WA Fisheries Minister, Ken Baston, announced the Peel-Harvey recreational and commercial fishing sectors had joined forces in a world-first collaboration to enter full Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) assessment at the Mandurah Crab Fest on Saturday.

On location to celebrate the announcement were (Left to Right) Dr Andrew Rowland, CEO Recfishwest; Heather Brayford, Acting Director General, Department of Fisheries; Damien Bell, Mandurah professional crab fisherman & WA Fishing Industry Council Director; Deptuy Mayor, City of Mandurah Darren Lee, Fisheries Minister Ken Baston, Channel 7 House Rules celebrities Carol and Russell Brampton, and MSC's Matt Watson. Joining the fun were Damien Bell's two sons.

ON SATURDAY JOIN THE AUSTRAL FISHERIES CELEBRATION BBQ AT CENTRAL SEAFOODS

To celebrate the Marine Stewardship Council’s Sustainable Seafood Day, AUSTRAL FISHERIES will be hosting a sustainable seafood BBQ at Central Seafoods in Malaga (Perth) on Saturday (21st March) from 9am to 2pm.

Central Seafoods are great supporters of Austral Fisheries, so come down and try (for free!!) our Skull Island Tiger Prawns, Banana Prawns, Endeavour Prawns or our Glacier 51 Toothfish, all of which are certified as sustainable and well managed fisheries by MSC in Australia.
